Decisions - January 2007

The Board of the BCC met on 17 January 2007 to consider and/or adjudicate upon fifteen complaints. The Commission deferred the adjudications on six complaints for further consideration to the next meeting of the Board. In relation to one complaint, the Commission had to consider a request for anonymity. The request was not granted. A complaint concerning an advertisement for which the broadcaster's response was submitted late to the Commission was considered. It was noted that the station withdrew the advertisement as soon as they were notified to do so (back in November 2006). Given the action taken by the broadcaster, the Commission considered the complaint resolved. However, the station will be informed that to ensure due process for all parties to a complaint, they should engage with the complaint process in a timely manner going forward.

The summaries of the seven complaints on which full adjudications were made are accessible on this page (note, all complaint summaries are in MS word format).
